National Vocational Qualifications
NVQs are work-related, competence based qualifications. They reflect the skills and knowledge needed to do a job effectively, and represent national standards recognised by employers throughout the country.
NVQs are qualifications for work. They show someone can actually do a job, and not simply that they know how to do it in theory.

There is a huge variety of NVQs made up from a wide choice units, which describe the skills and knowledge needed to do a job efficiently. The enormous variety of content means there is an NVQ for almost every job however specialised and unique it seems. They are also available at five levels depending on the competency and skills of the individual.
